Hei Hei x Jackie O's Lunar New Year Pop-up!

The theme of the menu is anju, which is the Korean term for food to go with drinks. It’s food packed with flavor that lends itself to eating alongside a cold beer, soju, or cocktail. 

Jackie O’s has put together a special drink menu. Join me on a Seoul Train or a game of “APT” and we’ll bring in the year of the SNAKE together! 

MENU

Korean Fried Chicken Wings. 
Fried chicken is hands down my favorite food, with wings being at the top of my list. I’ve spent years tweaking my fried chicken recipe, and I really enjoyed creating this version which is based on a traditional Korean recipe. The wings are dredged and fried twice, so they’re extra crispy, and then they’re brushed with a savory, sweet, and slightly spicy gochujang glaze. I upped the tangy-ness with vinegar and fermented hot sauce. 

Kimchi Pancakes (vegan, gluten free).
This is also a traditional dish. It’s one of my favorites and it’s naturally gluten free! The pancake batter is made by soaking dried mung beans and a little sweet rice and then blending them into a silky batter. Our Hei Hei kimchi, scallions, and mung bean sprouts are then added. The result is a wonderfully fluffy pancake that’s super savory. I could eat these every day. Served with a soy dipping sauce. 

Hei Hei Dumplings.
Pork dumplings and veggie dumplings! Our signature handmade dumplings are seared and then steamed so you get that crispy and chewy goodness. Made with local ingredients from small farms here in South East Ohio. Served with a soy + vinegar dipping sauce.

Kimchi
Our 99.9% local kimchi is super crunchy, sweet, spicy, and not too sour.

I hope this becomes an annual tradition here in Athens.
